【摘要】:1.1Thesetestmethodsofchilltestingapplytograyironsthataretobefreeofchillinthecastingandtochilledironsthataretohaveaspecificdepthofchillinthecasting.Twotestmethodsofdeterminingthechillingtendenciesofcastironarecoveredasfollows.Formanyapplicationseithertestmethodwillbesatisfactoryiftestpiecesoftheproperdimensionsareselected.1.1.1TestMethodA,WedgeTest8212;Thistestisgenerallybetteradaptedtothehigherstrengthgrayirons.Theacceleratedcoolingratetoinducetheformationofachillisbroughtaboutthroughthedesignofthetestspecimen.ThistestmethodissimplerthanTestMethodBsincemaintenanceofchillblocksorplatesisnotnecessary.1.1.2TestMethodB,ChillTest8212;Thistestisbetteradaptedtothesoftergradesofgrayironandshouldbeusedifthecastingistohaveaspecifieddepthofchill.Thechillinthistypeoftestisinducedbycastingoneedgeofthetestspecimenagainstametalorgraphitechilledplateorblock.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
