【摘要】:Allwaterscontainingacidsolublebariumcompoundsareknowntobetoxic.Thistestmethodisusefulforthedeterminationofbariuminbrines,seawater,andbrackishwaters.Consumption,inhalation,orabsorptionof500to600mgofbariumisconsideredfataltohumanbeings.Lowerlevelsmayresultindisordersoftheheart,bloodvessels,andnerves.Thedrinkingwaterstandardssetthemaximumcontaminantlevelforbariumas2mg/Lbarium.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofdissolvedandtotalrecoverablebariuminbrines,seawater,andbrackishwatersbydirect-currentargonplasmaatomicemissionspectroscopy(DCP-AES).1.2Thistestmethodhasbeentestedintherangefrom10mg/Lto20mg/L.Samplesshallbedilutedtocontainconcentrationswithinthecalibrationrange(see11.1and12.5).Higherconcentrationscanalsobedeterminedbychangingtoalesssensitiveemissionline.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
